Description

The 6 days Mount Kilimanjaro-Marangu route, also known as the Coca-Cola Route, offers a unique trekking experience. First of all, it stands out for its affordability. At the same time, it provides more comfort than other routes. Unlike other trails, only the Marangu Route offers sleeping huts with beds and solar lighting.

After a long day of trekking, you’ll arrive at cozy huts. Each one features communal bunks, mattresses, and pillows. This setup encourages climbers to relax, share stories, and build friendships. Moreover, the atmosphere feels social and energizing from day one.

Mandara and Kibo Huts each offer 60 beds. Horombo Hut hosts up to 120 climbers. Therefore, trekkers from around the world come together here. They eat in shared dining huts, adding even more joy to the experience.

Additionally, the lower huts—Mandara and Horombo—have bathrooms with running water. This extra comfort makes the 6 days Mount Kilimanjaro-Marangu trek especially attractive. Although Kibo Hut has only basic latrines, trekkers still appreciate the available sanitation.

Hike to Mawenzi - 6 days Mount Kilimanjaro-Marangu

Normally, the Marangu Route takes 5 days to complete. However, choosing the 6 days itinerary improves acclimatisation. You can either rest a full day at Horombo Hut or hike up to Mawenzi for added adventure. Both options help you prepare better for the summit.

As you approach the peak, you’ll enjoy ever-changing scenery—from lush rainforest to alpine desert. Thanks to the hut system, your pack stays lighter, and your nights stay warmer. Furthermore, the trail descends on the same path, giving you a second chance to enjoy each view.

Overall, the 6 days Mount Kilimanjaro-Marangu route combines comfort, social vibes, and great scenery. It suits beginners and seasoned trekkers alike. Plus, the extra day gives your body time to adjust, increasing your chances of success.
