From Holland to Tanzania

Life has a way of leading us to unexpected places. My story, From Holland to Tanzania is one of adventure, resilience, and a few cultural surprises along the way. It all started with a family safari in 2008, an experience so incredible that I knew I had to return. Even though I had already been to Kenya, Tanzania stole my heart. I wanted more—more wildlife, more adventure, and more of that untamed African beauty.
A Leap of Faith
Fast forward to 2018. Freshly divorced and ready for a new chapter, I packed my bags and moved from Holland to Tanzania. Simple, right? Well, not quite. Life here is beautiful, but it’s not always easy. I’ve faced more challenges than I can count, but as they say, “the persistent one wins in the end.” And stubbornness? That’s practically my middle name.
Adjusting to a New Life
Tanzania has given me so much—breathtaking landscapes, incredible people, and a new sense of purpose. But let’s be honest, there are things I miss from Holland. First, drop—that glorious black candy that no one here seems to understand. And cheese. Real, rich, proper cheese. What I don’t miss? The weather. Rainy, cold, grey Dutch days? No, thank you. Though I must admit, spending Christmas in the heat still feels strange. Then again, hardly anyone here celebrates it, so I guess that solves the problem.
Cultural Surprises
New Year’s Eve? Now that’s a different experience altogether. Back home, we’d pop champagne and make a big deal of midnight. In Tanzania? You sit with friends, the clock strikes twelve, and… nothing. No cheers, no fireworks, just quiet contemplation. Then, the next day, your phone explodes with messages wishing you a Happy New Year. A bit of a delayed reaction, but hey, it works!
The Birth of eSafari Africa
Falling in love with Tanzania’s beauty wasn’t enough—I wanted to share it with others. That’s how eSafari Africa was born. I wanted to create tailor-made safaris, making sure travelers could experience the magic of Africa in a way that suits them best. From luxury getaways to budget-friendly adventures, we make it happen. Seeing our guests light up when they witness a lion in the wild or a breathtaking Serengeti sunset makes all the hard work worth it.
Making a Difference
Beyond travel, I wanted to give back. Helping single mothers in Tanzania became a mission close to my heart. Instead of simply offering financial aid, I focus on providing opportunities—helping them start small businesses or access education. It’s about empowering people to build better futures for themselves and their families. This work adds another layer of meaning to my journey and reminds me why I love this country so much.
The Journey in Tanzania Continues
My journey is far from over. Every day brings new experiences, challenges, and joys. If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting Africa, I encourage you to take that leap. Who knows? You might find your own journey waiting for you here.
I have found my purpose, my passion, and my home. What adventure is calling you?
