Day trip Bagamoyo

1 Day

Your Day trip Bagamoyo starts with a warm greet from your tour guide. He’ll meet you at your hotel, the airport, or the harbour of Dar es Salaam or Bagamoyo.

One and a half hour later you find yourself exploring the intriguing Kaole Ruins, just a few kilometers outside Bagamoyo. Dating back to the 13th century, these ruins stand as remnants of an important Swahili trading center. Wander through the echoes of history as you explore mosques, tombs, and houses that offer a captivating glimpse into the region’s past.

You’ll proceed to Bagamoyo town to visit the Old Fort. This historical site once functioned as a slave market and confinement for slaves but has transformed into a museum.

For lunch Bagamoyo’s local restaurants provide a delightful array of seafood, Swahili dishes, and other tantalizing local cuisine.

After lunch you venture to the Bagamoyo Arts and Crafts Centre, a showcase of local artisans’ craftsmanship.

The journey continues with a visit to the Catholic Mission, founded in the late 19th century. The mission plays a pivotal role in education and healthcare in the region.

As the clock strikes 4:00 pm, the one-and-a-half-hour transfer back to Dar es Salaam commences. You’ll carry with you the memories of a day well spent exploring the rich tapestry of its history and culture. We will drop you off at your pickup point around 5:30 pm.
