Description
Begin your 4 days Mount Meru adventure from Arusha or Moshi. As you drive toward lush Arusha National Park, excitement builds inside you. At Momella Gate, the real journey begins. The trail immediately leads into vibrant rainforest, where the calls of colobus monkeys surround you. You might even spot buffalo or giraffes nearby. As the path gently steepens, you climb through layers of green, each bend bringing you closer to the mountain’s heart. Soon, you arrive at Miriakamba Hut, embraced by lively forest and the mountain’s watchful presence.
The next morning, you set off again, leaving the dense forest behind for open moorland. Before you lies the vast Meru crater, with Kilimanjaro’s distant peak sometimes peeking through. The steady climb to Saddle Hut reveals new plants and stunning views at every step. Around midday, you reach the hut and rest. Later, a short acclimatization hike up Little Meru rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views. As evening falls, you return to Saddle Hut, readying yourself for the summit push on Mount Meru ahead.
Rise and Shine: Because the Summit Won’t Wait!
In the early hours, under a starry sky, your summit attempt begins. Your headlamp lights each careful step as you move forward. Passing Rhino Point and Cobra Point, you navigate rugged terrain while the sky gradually brightens. After hours of steady effort, you reach the summit just in time to see the sun rise above Kilimanjaro and endless plains below. The breathtaking view makes every step worth it. After soaking it in, you start your descent back to Saddle Hut, where you rest and savor your achievement.
